About West Heanton - Residential Home
West Heanton is a residential care home near Beaworthy in rural Devon, offering older people a comfortable place to live with support always close at hand. The countryside setting is part of the appeal for many of the people who come to us, and we make the most of it, getting residents outdoors whenever the weather is kind. Much of our work is supporting residents living with dementia. We approach that by learning each person's history and habits, keeping the day steady and predictable, and giving people time rather than hurrying them. When somebody is unsettled we look for the cause instead of treating it as a problem to be contained. Our team helps with personal care, medication, mobility and meals, and equally with the parts of the day that give it shape: conversation, music, a walk, or simply peace and quiet for those who want it. Relatives are welcome to visit whenever suits them, and we would far rather people dropped in than waited to be invited. We also offer respite stays, which some families use as a break and others as a gentle way to find out whether a permanent move would suit. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is Good. Please come and see us at an ordinary time of day.
