About Glasshouse Hill
We are Glasshouse Hill, a residential care home in Ripley, Derbyshire. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with mental health conditions, people with physical disabilities, people with a visual or hearing impairment, and people whose lives have been affected by alcohol or drug misuse. Respite stays are available. That is a broad mix, and we plan carefully because of it. What people here have in common is that they need somewhere settled to live, and our job is to make this feel like a home rather than a placement. People arrive with their own furniture, pictures and habits, and those come first. Much of what we do is about structure without rigidity. A predictable day, a decent meal, a proper night's sleep, medication that is right and taken, and somebody who notices how you are doing make the difference between coping and struggling. Where somebody is rebuilding after a difficult period, we try to be steady and unjudgemental rather than watchful, and where somebody wants to work towards living more independently we support that. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Visitors are welcome at any reasonable hour. Please ring us if you would like to look round.
