About The Red House
The Red House is a residential care home in Derby supporting older people, younger adults, adults with learning disabilities, autistic adults, people with physical disabilities, people with loss of sight or hearing, and people living with mental health conditions. We should be straightforward about our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission, which is requires improvement. We would rather raise it ourselves. We know which areas were identified, we have a plan of work under way covering staff training and supervision, our record keeping, and how people and their families are involved in decisions, and we are glad to talk through where we have got to with anyone considering us. The work of the house continues properly meanwhile. Support is built around the individual rather than around a label, and it is agreed with the person and written in a form they can understand. Communication gets particular attention here, using speech, signing, symbols or simply familiarity, since that is what allows people to make decisions rather than have them explained afterwards. People are supported to get out to work, college, clubs and family, and short respite stays are available alongside permanent places. Please come and see the house and ask us whatever you need to ask.
