About Westwinds Residential Care
Westwinds Residential Care is a care home in Workington, Cumberland. We are home to older people who need support with daily life, and we welcome people for respite stays, whether to recover after a spell in hospital or to give a family carer a proper rest. We are a small home and we run like one. Everybody here is known properly, which means our team notices when somebody eats less than usual, sleeps badly, seems low or becomes unsteady on their feet, and it gets dealt with the same day rather than at a review in a month's time. Residents run their own days. When to get up and go to bed, what to eat, whether to sit with others or keep to their own room with their own things around them. Rooms hold people's own furniture and photographs, because familiar belongings do more for somebody settling in than anything we could buy for them. Most people who live here come from this part of Cumbria, and the shared places and names give people plenty to talk about. Family and friends call in freely and we like it that way. Health needs are managed alongside local GPs and community nurses, and families hear from us early rather than late when anything changes. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall. Please come and visit us in Workington.
