About Park Lodge
Park Lodge is a residential care home in Wigton, Cumberland, caring for older people and for younger adults who need support with everyday life, including people living with dementia, people with a physical disability and people with sight or hearing loss. We provide permanent residential care and shorter respite stays, so we can help when living at home has stopped feeling safe, when a family carer needs a planned break, or when someone needs time to regain their confidence after a hospital admission. When a person moves in we spend the first days learning about them rather than working through paperwork, because how somebody has always lived tells us far more than an assessment form does. Our support follows the person. We ask about the work they did, the places they have lived, the food they actually enjoy, the routines they have kept for years and what they would still rather manage themselves. For residents living with dementia we keep familiar faces around them, allow plenty of time and look for the reason behind distress rather than simply settling it. Where somebody has a disability or sight and hearing loss, we adapt how we work so they stay part of decisions about their own life. Meals are cooked here and requests are welcome. Relatives can visit through the day and expect to hear from us honestly. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us good overall.
