About Bradbury House
Bradbury House is a residential care home in Seascale, Cumberland. We provide a home for older people and we also support some younger adults, along with offering respite stays for those who need a short period of care or whose family carer needs a break. We are not a large place and we have no wish to be. What we offer instead is attention to the person, which sounds modest and is in fact the hardest thing in care to keep up over time. It means knowing how everybody likes their breakfast, which chair belongs to whom, who wants company in the morning and who would rather be left with the radio off. We ask about these things, we record them and we expect them to be followed. Being a small home on the Cumbrian coast means people tend to know each other, staff included, and that familiarity is worth more to our residents than any facility we could install. Families are welcome whenever it suits them, and we keep in touch openly rather than only ringing when there is a difficulty. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. It reflects reliable everyday practice, which is what most families are actually looking for, and we keep checking the detail rather than assuming it will hold. If you are considering a care home in this area for someone close to you, please come and look round and ask us anything you like.
