About The Millfield
The Millfield is a residential care home in Keswick, caring for older people in a part of Cumbria that many of the people living with us have known for most of their lives. We aim for the atmosphere of a household rather than an institution, with people keeping their own routines, their own belongings and a real say in how their day is spent. We support people living with dementia, where a steady and familiar routine matters more than anything we could put in a brochure, and people managing mental health conditions, where patience and continuity count for a great deal. We also care for people living with a physical disability, where good support is mostly about making daily life practical again rather than doing things for someone. Respite stays are available too, for people recovering after illness and for family carers who need a genuine break. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. We take that as the standard to hold onto rather than an achievement to rest on. What tells us more is the everyday evidence, whether people are up and occupied, whether mealtimes are sociable and whether families feel able to say when something is not right. If you are considering a care home in Keswick, please come and see us.
