About Beachcomber Care Home
We are Beachcomber Care Home in Seaham, County Durham. We provide residential care for older people, including people with physical disabilities, and we also support younger adults. Respite stays are available for shorter periods. We keep things deliberately homely. People arrive with their own furniture, pictures and habits, and those come first. What time you like to wake, where you want your meals, whether you feel sociable today or would rather sit quietly: those decisions stay with you. A good deal of what makes life here pleasant is quite ordinary, and we would rather describe it plainly than dress it up. Where somebody has a physical disability, we pay proper attention to access, equipment and moving about, so those needs are met without fuss and do not end up shaping the whole of their day. That matters particularly for younger adults, who have often been offered places designed for people decades older, and we plan around their own interests and independence instead. We also think a home should stay part of its own town. Seaham and the coast are on the doorstep, and we support people to keep up the connections they already have. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Visitors are welcome at any reasonable hour. Please ring us if you would like to look round.
