About NEAS, Short Term Residential Breaks
NEAS Short Term Residential Breaks provides short stays in Durham, County Durham, for adults with a learning disability or autism. People come to us for a break, and their families and regular carers get one too, which matters just as much. A short stay should be something to look forward to rather than something to endure. We ask people what they want from their time here, what they enjoy, what they would rather avoid and what helps them feel settled, and we build the stay around those answers. Some people want a busy few days out and about. Others want quiet, familiar routines in a comfortable place. Both are entirely fine. Because people come and go, we take particular care over the details. We find out in advance how somebody communicates, what their routines look like at home, what they eat and what might unsettle them, so that arriving feels safe rather than strange. Many of the people who stay with us come back regularly, and that familiarity makes a real difference. We work closely with families, regular carers and community teams so that a stay fits with everything else in a person's life rather than interrupting it. The Care Quality Commission most recently rated us good overall. Please get in touch if you would like to know more or to look round.
