About Anna S Proctor House Care Home
Anna S Proctor House Care Home is a residential home in Consett, County Durham. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, people with mental health needs and people with physical disabilities. We offer respite stays alongside permanent places. We support a mixed group of people, and we plan for each of them individually rather than running a single day that everyone has to fit into. We give help with washing, dressing, medication, meals and mobility, and we try to give only as much help as is genuinely wanted, because independence is easily eroded by being over helpful. Dementia care is a substantial part of our work. We spend time learning about each person's life, their habits and the things that settle them, because that is what allows staff to respond to the feeling behind a difficult moment rather than simply to the behaviour. With autistic residents we pay close attention to routine, warning of change and the sensory side of the environment. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather say that plainly than have you discover it elsewhere. We know which areas were identified, we are working through them with the whole team, and if you visit we will tell you honestly where we have got to and what is still in hand. Families are welcome here, and we would much rather hear a concern early than late.
