About The Laurels Residential Care Home
The Laurels is a residential care home in Winsford, and we offer a settled home for older people, including those living with dementia or a physical disability. We also take people for shorter respite stays, and we support some younger adults whose needs are better met here than in a larger setting. What we try to get right is the ordinary detail. Knowing that someone takes their tea strong, prefers a bath to a shower, likes to be up early or would rather have a quiet afternoon. Those things are not incidental, they are what makes a place feel like home instead of an institution. We ask, we write it down and we expect our staff to act on it. Dementia care is a large part of what we do. Our approach is patient and unhurried, built on familiar faces and routines that do not change without reason, and we involve families closely because they usually know the person best. We should be straightforward about where we stand. Our most recent overall judgement from the Care Quality Commission was that we require improvement. We have not tried to explain that away. We have a clear plan in place, we are working through it with the inspectors and with the local authority, and we are happy to talk honestly with any family about what has changed and what is still in progress. If you would like to visit and ask us difficult questions, please do.
