About Dorin Court Bungalow Short Break Service
Dorin Court Bungalow is a short break home in Chester. We provide residential care for adults with a learning disability and autistic adults, including people with a physical disability and people with a visual or hearing impairment, and we support both younger adults and older people. Most of our work is short stays, and we take them as seriously as any permanent placement. A short break is not a gap to be filled. For the person staying it should be something to look forward to rather than dread, with the same staff each time, familiar routines and a plan that reflects how they actually live at home. For the family it should be a genuine rest rather than a few days spent worrying. That means preparing properly. We want to know how somebody communicates, what their day usually looks like, what settles them and what makes things harder, well before they arrive rather than on the doorstep. Where somebody has a sensory impairment as well, we pay particular attention to explaining what is about to happen and keeping things where they expect to find them. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Families and social workers are welcome to visit and ask us anything.
