About The Hawthorns
The Hawthorns is a residential care home in Wilmslow providing care for older people and younger adults, including those living with dementia. People come to us at very different points. Some have managed at home for years with growing difficulty, others arrive suddenly after a fall or a spell in hospital. Either way, the early weeks matter, and we spend them learning about the person, their family and their habits, because that is what allows us to offer care that fits rather than care in general. Staff help with washing and dressing, with moving about safely, with medication and with eating and drinking well, and they do it without hurrying anybody. For those living with dementia we keep the day predictable and the surroundings familiar, adjust how we communicate rather than expecting the person to adjust to us, and treat distress as something to be understood. The home is somewhere people live. Rooms are personalised, meals are cooked here with a genuine choice, there is company for those who want it and quiet for those who do not, and visitors are welcome. Respite and short stays can be arranged, which suits families needing a break and people who want to try the home before deciding. If you would like to look round, please telephone us and we will arrange a time.
