About The Grove -6

The Grove is a residential care home in Bedford, supporting adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults. We also offer respite stays. We treat this as somebody's home rather than a placement. People arrange their own rooms, have a real say in the food and the shopping, and are involved in how the household runs. Where somebody can do something themselves, our job is to make that possible rather than to do it more quickly for them. Where somebody wants a job, a course or a club, that is the point of the support rather than an addition to it. Predictability matters here. For many of those living with us, knowing what is happening and who will be on shift is what makes a day manageable, so we plan ahead and explain changes early rather than rearranging casually. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We would rather state that plainly than have a family find it and wonder what else we left out. We accept what was identified and we are working through it. If you are considering this home for someone, please come without an appointment, spend time with the people who live here, speak to relatives, and ask us directly what has improved and what has not yet. We would rather be judged that way.
