About Maybank Residential Care Home

Maybank is a residential care home in Iver Heath for adults with a learning disability and for autistic adults. We provide permanent places and also respite stays, which can give families who usually provide the support a planned break. Our aim is an ordinary life rather than a programme of activity. People are involved in the shopping, the cooking and how the house is run, they have their own room and their own routine, and they are supported to get out locally, to use shops, cafes and leisure facilities, and to keep up with family and friends. Where someone wants to take on more for themselves, we make that possible and step back as they do. Autistic people often need the environment to work differently, so we think carefully about noise, light and how busy the house feels, we give proper notice before things change, and we communicate in whatever way suits the person. When someone becomes distressed, we look at what caused it and change the situation rather than simply managing the behaviour. Families and advocates know things about a person that no assessment captures, so we ask them, and we keep asking as things change. We work with community learning disability teams across Buckinghamshire to keep support joined up. Our overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are looking for a placement or respite, please contact us and arrange to visit.
