About White Plains Care Home
White Plains Care Home is a residential care home in Denham, Buckinghamshire. We are home to older people who need support with daily life, including many living with dementia, and we offer respite stays for people recovering from illness or giving a family carer a break. Moving into a home usually follows a difficult period, so we take the settling in slowly. We ask about the routines somebody has kept for decades, the food they actually like, how they take their tea and whether they would rather be up early or have a lie in, and we build around that instead of expecting people to adapt to us. Rooms hold people's own furniture and photographs and we knock before we come in. Days here are not heavily timetabled. Company, conversation, music and time in the garden for those who want them, the newspaper and quiet for those who do not. For residents living with dementia, familiarity does most of the work, so we keep our team settled and learn each person's history properly. When somebody is distressed we look for the reason behind it rather than trying to close it down. We work with local GPs and community nurses so health changes are picked up early, and families are kept informed as a matter of course. At our most recent inspection the Care Quality Commission rated us outstanding overall. We were glad of it and know it has to be earned again every day. Please come and look round.
