About Stoneyway 1
Stoneyway 1 is a small residential care home in Orpington. We support older people and younger adults, including people living with mental ill health, and we keep the house domestic in size and in feel. Being small has real advantages. Staff know everybody here properly, the atmosphere stays calm, and it is easy to notice when somebody is not quite themselves. People have their own room, their own things around them, and a genuine say in how the household runs. We plan around the individual. Help with washing, dressing and medication is offered quietly and at the time a person prefers, and we ask about the ordinary habits that usually get lost in a move so nobody has to keep explaining themselves. Where mental ill health is part of the picture, we work closely with community teams and make sure the person is properly involved in decisions about their own care rather than having them made overhead. There is company for those who want it and quiet for those who would rather be left alone. Families and friends are welcome, and we would far rather hear a worry early than late. Short respite stays are available, which can also be a sensible way of finding out whether we suit before anyone commits to anything. Please get in touch if you would like to come and see the house.
