About Lawnfield House
Lawnfield House is a residential care home in Brent. We are home to older people, including many living with dementia, and respite stays are part of what we do. What we promise is modest and we try to deliver it daily: decent meals, a comfortable room, quick help, clean laundry, and no interference with somebody's own day. Dementia care here rests on knowing people. We ask relatives early for the history, the working life and the names, because those are what still connect when a great deal else has slipped, and without them we would be managing a condition rather than keeping company with a person. Brent is mixed in language, faith and food, and we build the household around that rather than accommodating it at the margins. Being spoken to in your own language is not a small comfort when much else has changed. Privacy is easily lost in a shared setting, so we guard it. Doors get knocked on, personal care happens behind them, and nobody is discussed within earshot of others. The Care Quality Commission rates us good overall. Come at a mealtime and watch whether anybody is sitting waiting for help to eat, because that tells you a good deal.
