About Jerome House
Jerome House is a residential care home in Brent, London. We support older people and adults living with a mental health condition, and we offer respite care for planned short stays. This is somewhere people live rather than somewhere they are processed. Residents have their own room and their own belongings, decide how they want to spend the day, and are supported to take on more for themselves whenever they feel able. Some of the people who come to us need a settled routine and a calm house more than anything else. Others want support with medication and appointments, help with money and shopping, and encouragement to get back out into the city and among people again. We agree the plan with the resident, write it in plain language and revisit it honestly rather than letting it run on unchanged. Where somebody wants their family closely involved we welcome that; where they would rather keep a distance, that is their decision and we respect it. The atmosphere here matters as much as the plan. Our team is a settled one, unhurried and straightforward with people, and a difficult day is met calmly rather than treated as a crisis. Being known by people who notice when you are not quite yourself does more good than any amount of paperwork. We work closely with community mental health teams, GPs and social workers across Brent so that concerns are picked up early. Respite stays are arranged with the same thought as a permanent move. If you would like to look round, please contact us.
