About Mulberry House
Mulberry House is a care home in Bedford providing residential care for adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults, including younger adults, along with respite stays. It is only right to be open about our regulator. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is requires improvement. We have worked through the findings rather than disputed them. How support is planned and recorded has been reworked, supervision of staff has been strengthened, and the people who live here and their families have a clearer way to raise something and get a proper answer. That work is not finished, and we would rather say so than offer you reassurance. Ask us what has changed and we will be specific. What the house exists for has not changed. People living here should have lives they recognise as their own: a say over their rooms, their food and their days, work and courses and friendships beyond the front door, and support that turns up where it is genuinely needed and keeps out of the way where it is not. For autistic adults, predictability is the foundation, so we protect the consistency of the staff team and give notice of changes rather than springing them. Respite stays are prepared with visits beforehand. Please come and see the house on a normal day and ask us the difficult questions. We would much rather you did than not.
