About Barclay House
Barclay House is a nursing home in Leicester. We provide nursing care for older people and younger adults, including people with a physical disability and people managing a mental health condition, and we offer respite stays alongside permanent places. Physical health is too often neglected for people with long standing mental health needs, and that is one of the reasons a place like this exists. Having nurses on duty at all hours means medication, skin care, nutrition, pain and mobility are watched properly and problems are caught early, rather than being missed because somebody's difficulties have been filed under one heading. At the same time, nobody's life should be reduced to a set of observations. Most of the people who come to us know a great deal about their own condition and have been told what to do by a long line of professionals. We begin from what the person says helps, and we do not treat a difficult stretch as a reason to reconsider whether they should be here. People are supported to be up and dressed, to eat properly, to get outside and to see whoever they want. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. Please get in touch or come and visit if you are considering a placement.
