About Wallasey Project
The Wallasey Project provides support to people living in their own homes across Wirral. We work with older adults, younger adults, people with learning disabilities and autistic people, people living with physical disabilities, people managing mental health conditions, and people working through difficulties with alcohol or drugs. A good deal of our work is about enabling rather than caring in the usual sense. The aim is somebody running their own home, managing money and appointments, getting to work or college, and spending time with the people they choose. We do the parts that genuinely need doing for a person and leave the rest alone, even when doing it ourselves would be faster. Where somebody is managing a mental health condition or working through difficulties with alcohol or drugs, consistency and a lack of judgement matter more than any particular technique. We turn up when we said we would, we do not lecture, and we stay when things are difficult rather than only when they are going well. We match staff to people with care and keep those teams small and steady, because the relationship is where the value lies. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good.
