We are Maximus Healthcare, a home care agency working across Leicester and the surrounding neighbourhoods. Our work is simple to describe and harder to do well: we visit people in their own homes so that they can carry on living there, in the place they have chosen, with the help they need arriving when they need it. Most of the people we visit are older adults who want support with personal care, medication, meals and keeping the house in order. We also support younger adults, people living with physical disabilities, and people managing mental health conditions. We take on dementia care as well, where a familiar home and a familiar routine often do more good than any change of setting could. Continuity is the part we guard most closely. Being washed and dressed is an intimate thing, and it goes far better when the person at the door is someone you recognise and have come to trust. We work hard to send the same small team to the same people, and we keep visits long enough that nobody feels hurried out of their own front room. Care plans are written with the person and, where they want it, with their family. We revisit them when circumstances change rather than leaving them to gather dust on a shelf.
