About Wixams Retirement Village
Wixams Retirement Village is a home care agency near Bedford, supporting people in their own homes within the village and the surrounding area. Most of the people we support are older, though we also work with younger adults, and a number of the people we visit are living with dementia. The support ranges from a short daily call to several visits a day, covering personal care, medication, meals, help to move safely about the home, and the ordinary contact that keeps somebody from becoming isolated. Supporting people where they already live has a particular advantage. Everything is familiar, the routines are the person's own, and our job is to fill in the parts that have become difficult rather than to rearrange a life that mostly works. We agree what help is wanted with the person, and with family where they want them involved, then write it down plainly and revisit it as needs change. Because we work within one community, continuity is realistic rather than aspirational. The same care workers see the same people, they know the layout of the homes and the routines inside them, and they notice when something is different. Our most recent overall rating from the Care Quality Commission is good. If you are looking into support at home for yourself or a relative here, please get in touch and we will talk through what would actually help.
